Primary Weapons Systems FSC556 Compensator

We are always looking for new products. We were first introduced to this item by Vern Harrison at Central Virginia Tactical. Anything we market must fit several qualifications before we will add them to our offerings. First of all they need to work as advertised, the price must make sense, the item should also look as good as it works. Finally, installation should be straight forward and the item should fit as designed without modification. The PWS FSC556 compensator fits all of those and then some. Installation is easy with standard tools in minutes and everything needed is in the kit. The FSC556 looks great on an AR15 and of course, it works as advertised. This was a transformational piece of gear. Muzzle flip is gone. We mean gone. Control is the name of the game. Recoil is directed back into your shoulder where it belongs and the barrel stays pointed where it should be. If you want to get control over your AR15 this is just the tool to get it done.

Magpul CTR Stock

Here’s another great piece of kit from Magpul. The CTR stock for the AR15 platform. The standard military style stocks that come as OEM equipment leave a lot to be desired ergonomically. The become loose, provide poor cheek position and very little recoil protection. The Magpul CTR addresses all three in a compact, bullet proof package. It retains the adjustability of the standard stock but incorporates a patented locking system that eliminates wobble and rattles. The top of the stock had a wide, gently curved surface for a comfortable cheek fit and comes standard with a nice rubber recoil pad. It does all of this while remaining lightweight so as to not add to your carry load in the field. Drop in installation and all the standard features make this a no brainer as a replacement for your AR15 stock.

Leupold Mark AR 3-9X40 Mil Dot

Leupold’s latest venture in compact rifle scopes is directed at the boom in AR15 sales. The Mark AR series are designed specifically for the AR15 platform. Weighing in at only 12.5 ounces this 3-9×40 barely adds to lightweight nature of the AR. For this test we mounted it on a Stag model 3 with an Armalite one piece base.

This particular scope the model 67160 is supplied with Leupold’s Mil Dot reticle. All Mark AR scope include a BDC elevation knob for the 5.56/.223 round making range adjustments a snap in the field. After zeroing in the knobs can be reset to zero and provide positive tactile clicks. Once in the field you can use the mil dot reticle to get your range and dial in your shot quickly by spinning the knob to the correct range. The day of the test was cloudy and rainy and at 9am not the perfect shooting day. Even with the adverse conditions we had no problem finding our target due to the excellent light transmission. Leupold’s Multicoat 4® lens system transmits a bright clear picture with no edge distortion or coloring and plenty of eye relief. We were easily able to find our hits without the use of a spotting scope at 100 yards. We put about 100 rounds through the the gun and the scope never complained. It tracked on the money, returned to zero and was a pleasure to use. The Mark AR series is tested to the same performance standards as Leupold® Mark 4® optics so they should give a lifetime of trouble free service. Based on a street price under $400 we think this scope hits the mark.
